TBOF’s Top Shoot Questions
Q: Where is the shoot located?
A: TBOF shoots at the Ocala
Conservation Center which is nine miles northeast of the State Route 40/County
Road 314 Intersection just outside of Silver Springs.
Q: When can I register?
A: You can register to shoot
on site beginning mid-day on Friday before the shoot, no pre-registration
is required.
Q: How much does it cost to
shoot?
A: Adult shooters, over the
age of 16, shoot our competition rounds for $20.00. Cubs shoot for free.
However, all adult shooters must be a member of TBOF to enter the competition.
Memberships are $20 single and $30 family.
Q: Why do I have to join TBOF
to shoot the competition?
A: TBOF is a very active, statewide
bowhunting club. We work to protect and preserve the rights of all bowhunters
in the state of Florida and a strong membership strengthens our political
voice.
Q: When can I shoot the competition?
A: Two rounds of 20 targets
each must be shot on Saturday. The competition ranges open at 8 am and
are a casual start but all 40 targets must be shot and score cards turned
in by 4 pm on Saturday. The final 20 targets are shot on Sunday with a
9 am shotgun start. Cards must be turned in immediately upon completion
of the round.
Q: Why am I regrouped for
the Sunday round?
A: Our March shoot is a state
championship event and in the spirit of competition TBOF regroups you with
those shooting the closest score to yours. You may choose not to shoot
the Sunday round if you do not prefer to be regrouped. Feel free to shoot
the Fun Range or visit our vendors.
Q: What if I don’t want to
shoot the competition, can I still attend?
A: Absolutely! TBOF maintains
a Fun Range that has the challenge and a unique assortment of targets that
match our competition ranges. The Fun Range is open mid-day Friday through
mid-day Sunday during our shooting events. You can also enjoy our practice
range, vendors, novelties, Sunday raffle and guest speakers. You may also
canoe, kayak or fish on site. Bring your own gear.
Q: Can I camp on site?
A: Yes! We offer free camping,
both primitive and trailer. No hook ups are available.
Q: What type of terrain can
I expect?
A: The Ocala Conservation Center
is located on an upland ridge populated by palmetto, pine and oak vegetation.
Expect to shoot tight brushy shots! Only one area can occasionally be wet
behind a few targets depending on recent rainfall. Just don’t miss!
Q: What are the shot distances
at a TBOF shoot?
A: Our shots are set up with
real world distances in mind, ten to thirty yards.
Q: What types of targets will
I be shooting at?
A: TBOF uses 3-D targets from
McKenzie. Expect to shoot everything from beaver to bison plus many exotic
species.
