Were are the shoots located?
Depending on the shoot, they can be located in different areas. Most TBOF shoots are located at the Ocala Conservation Center which is nine miles northeast of the State Route 40/County Road 314 Intersection just outside of Silver Springs.
When can I register?
You can register to shoot on site beginning mid-day on Friday before the shoot, no pre-registration is required.
How much does it cost to shoot?
Adult shooters, 16 and older, shoot our State Championship competition rounds for $30.00 and Fall Rendezvous competition rounds for $15.00 each round. During the Fall Rendezvous you can shoot as many times as you like and in separate classes for an additional shoot fee. Only your first score in each class counts for awards. Shoot fee includes TBOF membership. Youth and cubs shoot for free.
When can I shoot the competition?
At the State Championship in March two rounds of 20 targets each must be shot by Saturday. The competition ranges open Friday at 1:00 pm and are a casual start but all 40 targets must be shot and score cards turned in by 4:30 pm on Saturday. The final 20 targets are shot on Sunday with a Shoot Meeting at 8:00 am and 9:00 am shotgun start. Cards must be turned in immediately upon completion of the round with cut-off at 11:30 am. At the Fall Rendezvous in August, competition consists of two rounds of 20 targets that can be shot starting Friday mid-day through Sunday morning. Cards must be turned in immediately upon completion of the two rounds with a cut-off on Sunday at 11:30 am.
Why am I regrouped for the Sunday round?
Our March shoot is a state championship event and in the spirit of competition TBOF regroups you with those shooting the closest score to yours. You may choose not to shoot the Sunday round if you do not prefer to be regrouped. Feel free to shoot the Fun Range or visit our vendors.
What if I don’t want to shoot the competition, can I still attend?
Absolutely! TBOF maintains a Fun Range that has the challenge and a unique assortment of targets that match our competition ranges. The Fun Range is open mid-day Friday through mid-day Sunday during our shooting events for $20.00 per adult shooter for the entire weekend, if you are shooting the competition the fun range fee for the weekend is $15.00. TBOF also has a 10 target Coon shoot competition that is shot Friday and Saturday evenings after dark. Each Coon shoot round is $5 for each adult shooter. You can also enjoy our practice range, vendors, novelties, Sunday raffle. You may also canoe, kayak, or fish on site. Bring your own gear.
Can I camp on site?
Yes! We offer free camping, both primitive and trailer. No hook ups are available. Generators may be used only in the generator use area.
What type of terrain can I expect?
The Ocala Conservation Center is located on an upland ridge populated by palmetto, pine, and oak vegetation. Expect to shoot tight brushy shots! One range can occasionally be wet behind a few targets depending on recent rainfall.
What type of terrain can I expect?
Our shots are set up with challenging traditional shooting distances in mind, ten to thirty yards. However, each range typically has one longer shot.
what types of targets will I be shooting?
TBOF uses 3-D targets from McKenzie. Expect to shoot everything from beaver to bison plus many exotic species.
